Tottenham signs Sandro Tonali for £100m, shaking Arsenal's pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes

Tottenham Hotspur completed a £100 million transfer for Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United, with an initial £92.5 million fee plus £7.5 million in add‑ons tied to Champions League qualification. Tonali said manager Roberto De Zerbi’s philosophy was a key factor in his move.

Arsenal had previously shown interest in Tonali but withdrew after the high price and wage demands. The club is now focusing on Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes, reportedly preparing a £60‑£65 million offer. Newcastle, bolstered by the Tonali fee and the earlier sale of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona, may hold out for a higher price, potentially £80‑90 million.

Newcastle is also linked with other midfield targets, including a £50 million deal for Swiss youngster Johan Manzambi, as they seek to replace the departing Tonali.
