Newcastle United faces squad depletion amid injuries and international call-ups

Newcastle United is facing significant squad depletion due to a combination of a large-scale international call-up and multiple player injuries. Head coach Matthias Jaissle is currently working with a skeleton squad as more than 20 players have reported for national duty across Europe.

Adding to these challenges, Lewis Hall missed England training due to a minor fitness niggle. While the injury is not considered serious and is expected not to impact his club availability, it highlights a lack of depth, as Hall is currently the team’s only recognized left-back.

Other injury concerns include Anthony Elanga, who is recovering from a hamstring injury with hopes of returning after the international break, and Jacob Ramsey, who is working through a thigh injury. Additionally, goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen is sidelined with a twisted ankle, and summer signing Nico Gonzalez is undergoing concussion protocol.
