Newcastle United secure 2-2 draw against Bournemouth

Newcastle United maintained their unbeaten start to the Premier League season with a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth at St James' Park. Bournemouth took a commanding 2-0 lead in the first half through a ninth-minute goal by Marcus Tavernier and a thirty-fifth-minute own goal by Malick Thiaw.

Newcastle responded quickly before the halftime whistle, with Harvey Barnes scoring a brilliant solo goal to make it 2-1. Despite Bournemouth controlling much of the play and Newcastle struggling with defensive lapses, the home side found an equalizer in the eighty-eighth minute when substitute Jacob Ramsey struck a low shot into the bottom corner.

The result marks a continued pattern for Bournemouth, who have now surrendered leads late in matches for three consecutive games. For Newcastle, the draw preserves the unbeaten run under manager Matthias Jaissle, though Jaissle expressed mixed feelings, criticizing the team's first-half defensive performance as ‘slapstick’.
