Newcastle United to retain Joelinton through January transfer window

Newcastle United reportedly has no intention of selling midfielder Joelinton during the upcoming January transfer window. Despite previous summer links to moves toward Saudi Arabia, the club intends to retain the 30-year-old Brazilian.

Manager Matthias Jaissle has designated Joelinton as vice-captain, part of a new five-man leadership group that includes Dan Burn, Malick Thiaw, Yoane Wissa, and Lewis Miley. Jaissle plans to utilize the midfielder's experience regularly once he returns to full fitness.

Joelinton has been sidelined since mid-August due to a muscle injury, which prevented him from making a competitive appearance under Jaissle's tenure. He is expected to return to action following the international break, with a potential comeback targeted for the Premier League fixture against Coventry City on October 12.
