Newcastle woman pleads guilty to reckless wounding after hotel stabbing
A woman identified as Richardson pleaded guilty to reckless wounding and common assault after stabbing her boyfriend in the wrist during an argument at the Young Street Hotel in Carrington, Newcastle. The victim suffered a deep 10‑centimetre wound that severed nerves, an artery, muscles and tendons, and was taken to John Hunter Hospital for emergency surgery.
Police arrested Richardson at the hotel, and she was later granted bail. She is scheduled to appear in the Newcastle District Court next month for sentencing. The incident highlights concerns about violence in private accommodation settings.
