Newcore Gold appoints Sulemanu Koney to Board of Directors
Newcore Gold Ltd. has announced the immediate appointment of Sulemanu Koney as an independent, non-executive director to its Board of Directors.
Koney is a prominent figure in the Ghanaian mining sector with over 35 years of corporate experience. He previously spent 25 years with the Ghana Chamber of Mines, serving as its Chief Executive Officer from 2014 until 2025. During his leadership at the Chamber, he focused on enhancing sector competitiveness, sustainability, and fostering collaboration between mining entities, the government, and traditional authorities.
His professional background includes serving as the first Executive Director of the ECOWAS Federation of Chambers of Mines (EFEDCOM) and chairing the UN Global Compact Network Ghana for a decade. Prior to his work with the Chamber, he held a position at Shell Ghana Limited.
