Newell's Old Boys sign defender Agustín García Basso from Racing

Newell's Old Boys announced the signing of 34‑year‑old centre‑back Agustín García Basso, who will join the squad on a two‑year contract. The player arrives from Racing, where he had also been deployed as a left‑back, and is the club’s fourth defensive acquisition this transfer window.

Club president Frank Kudelka noted the deal was concluded despite the club’s acknowledged economic constraints. No official transfer fee was disclosed, though Racing had previously valued the defender at around $700,000. Because paperwork is still being finalised, García Basso is unlikely to be available for Newell's upcoming match against Talleres.
