Newell’s Old Boys to take legal action after stadium violence
Club Atlético Newell’s Old Boys has announced it will take legal action following violent incidents that occurred both near and inside the Marcelo Bielsa Stadium. In an official statement, the club expressed “most energetic repudiation” of the events, asserting that neither its members, fans, nor directors were responsible for provoking the disturbances.
The institution stated that the community was caught in a situation caused by circumstances external to the club. Furthermore, the club’s leadership strongly criticized the conduct of security forces, specifically rejecting the “intrusion of agents” within the club’s facilities. They demanded that security interventions adhere to principles of proportionality and respect for the institution.
Newell’s Old Boys also expressed “deep distrust” regarding the planning and execution of sports security operations, calling for a review of current protocols and demanding clear accountability for those responsible for the security failures.
