Newport defeats Aberavon 73-33 to defend Challenger Shield

Newport secured a dominant 73-33 victory over Aberavon in the Super Rygbi Cymru competition, marking their third consecutive win. The team scored 11 tries during the match, including two each from Hunter Ward and Wade Langley.

The win represents Newport’s second successful defense of the Challenger Shield this season. Similar to New Zealand’s Ranfurly Shield, the holder defends the trophy during every home game in the regular league season. Acting captain Hunter Ward noted that the team is motivated by the goal of retaining the shield throughout the entire campaign at Rodney Parade.
