Newquay road closed after storm damages construction site
Narrowcliff, a main route through Newquay town centre, remains closed to motorists following storm damage to the under-construction Cliff Edge development. High winds from Storm Austen tore off cladding from the building on Friday, October 23.
Cornwall Council reported that while those responsible for the site are arranging specialist equipment to remove loose material, ongoing high winds from Storm Boelo have prevented safe repair work. Although the road is closed to vehicles, pedestrians are still permitted to walk through the area, despite the risk of further cladding or glass panels falling.
Diversions have been implemented, and officials advise travelers to allow extra time for journeys. Cornwall Council stated it is unlikely the road will reopen before Monday.
