Newquay UK Surf & Skate Expo draws over 12,000 fans
More than 12,000 people attended the UK Surf & Skate Expo at Newquay Sports Centre in Newquay, Cornwall. The three‑day festival combined surf, skateboarding and film, featuring talks by athletes such as American free surfer Dylan Graves, Swedish surfer Tim Latte, big‑wave surfers Laura Crane and Andrew Cotton, and Olympic skateboarder Lucy Adams.
The event opened with the Wavelength UK Surfer Awards, where Lukas Skinner was named Best Male Surfer, Lucy Campbell Best Female Surfer, and Laura Crane won the Big‑Wave Female award. A new modular "nanuskate" ramp allowed participants to try skate tricks anywhere flat ground was available, and TR7 Skate ran competitions offering £1,000 in prize money. The inaugural European Surf Film Festival screened a mix of local and European movies, with filmmaker Morgan Maassen answering audience questions. Patagonia provided free wetsuit repairs and promoted local‑community initiatives.
