Newsweek Friendly Bank ranking reveals shifts in Polish banking sector

The 25th edition of the Newsweek ‘Friendly Bank’ ranking has highlighted significant shifts in the Polish banking landscape. After a period of dominance by Bank Millennium in both traditional and remote banking categories, the latest results show a change in leadership within the remote banking sector.

Auditors, acting as ‘mystery shoppers,’ evaluated the service quality of the ten largest active banks in Poland by visiting physical branches and testing electronic banking systems. The findings indicate diverging trends: while standards in traditional banking continue to improve, the quality of services in remote banking has shown a systematic decline over the last two editions.

Notable movements in the ranking include a significant rise for ING Bank Śląski and a sharp decline for Velo Bank, which fell to the bottom of the rankings after previously being a leader in both categories.
