Newtech announces Ness1300 desktop NAS for space-constrained environments
Newtech, a storage specialist under the Sakura Group, has announced the release of the Ness1300, a new desktop-type Network Attached Storage (NAS) device scheduled for launch in October. Designed for environments with limited installation space, such as medical clinics, small offices (SOHO), and surveillance camera systems, the Ness1300 serves as the successor to the Ness1200.
The new model features updated hardware, including an Intel Pentium G7400 CPU and DDR5 memory. It utilizes Windows Server IoT 2025 for Storage Standard as its base operating system. To ensure high reliability, the device employs the company's proprietary 'Kite' RAID controller, which provides hardware mirroring (RAID1) to reduce CPU load compared to software-based solutions.
Key technical features include a design that separates the OS area (using NVMe M.2 SSD) from the data area (using 3.5-inch SATA HDDs) to balance fast boot times with maintenance ease. The device also supports hot-swapping, auto-rebuild, error recovery, and patrol read functions to support 24/7 operations. The compact unit measures approximately 154 x 270 x 188 mm and includes a BMC port for remote power management and status monitoring.
