Newtown Municipal Authority approves $11.5 million property sale

The Newtown Bucks County Joint Municipal Authority has unanimously approved an $11.5 million agreement to sell its 17.5-acre property on Lower Silver Lake Road to DeLuca Homes. The sale price matches the original amount the authority paid to acquire the land.

The decision follows the abandonment of a previous plan to construct a $128 million wastewater treatment facility on the site. That project faced significant public opposition and litigation threats from residents in Newtown Township, Newtown Borough, Middletown Township, and Lower Makefield Township, eventually leading the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors to withdraw its support.
