Nexa launches Expert+ metallurgical training program in Peru and Brazil
Nexa has launched the first edition of its Expert+ program, a technical training initiative designed to develop specialists in metallurgical operations across its units in Peru and Brazil. The program aims to address the need for specialized professionals in smelter operations and support engineers seeking technical careers within the industry.
The inaugural selection process drew over 500 applicants from both countries, including 290 from Peru, with women representing 43% of the total applicants. A total of nine professionals were selected for the 24-month program.
In Peru, the training will take place at the Nexa Cajamarquilla refinery, which is the largest zinc refinery in Latin America and the fifth largest globally. The curriculum combines practical learning with mentorship from senior professionals, covering fundamental metallurgical stages such as hydrometallurgy and roasting.
