Nexen launches WINGUARD ice 3 winter tire in Japan

Nexen Tire Japan announced that its new generation Nordic‑type winter tire, WINGUARD ice 3, will begin sales in September 2026. The tire is engineered to handle Japan’s varied winter road conditions and to support heavier vehicles such as hybrids, electric cars and SUVs. It features a wide‑profile tread, V‑shaped pattern, 3D sipes and a high‑density hydrophilic filler to improve grip on ice, snow, packed‑snow and wet surfaces. The product has earned the international “Ice Grip” certification for its braking performance on ice. Initial offerings will centre on 18‑inch sizes, with a range from 15 to 20 inches planned, while the existing WINGUARD ice 2 model will remain on sale.
