NEXO SUMMIT 2026 addresses Peru housing gap and infrastructure

The NEXO SUMMIT 2026, organized by the Confederation of Real Estate Developers of Peru (CODIP), took place in Lima on September 9 and 10 to address critical urban challenges. Key topics included the national housing gap, estimated at approximately 1.9 million homes, and the urgent need for planned water and sanitation infrastructure.

Participants discussed financing alternatives, such as state guarantees and microfinance, to improve access to social interest housing. The summit also highlighted the role of technology, specifically the application of artificial intelligence in infrastructure and bidding processes, and the impact of mass transit lines on urban densification and property values. José Espantoso, president of CODIP, emphasized the necessity of long-term coordination between the private sector, Congress, and the Ministry of Housing to establish predictable rules for infrastructure development.
