Nexstrom raises $12M to scale 2D semiconductor platform

Singapore-based semiconductor startup Nexstrom has raised $12 million in a seed funding round to commercialize its wafer-scale 2D semiconductor platform. The round was led by Xora Innovation, with participation from Foothill Ventures and SEEDS, bringing the company’s total capital raised to $15 million.

The funding will be used to accelerate the development of 12-inch single-crystal 2D material growth, such as molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂), using production-ready manufacturing equipment. Nexstrom’s platform aims to integrate proprietary chemical vapor deposition (CVD) hardware and process technology directly into existing foundry workflows, allowing for growth on 300mm wafers without requiring major changes to current manufacturing processes.

The company is targeting high-performance, low-power applications in AI, data centers, and advanced computing systems where traditional silicon scaling faces constraints due to power consumption and leakage. Nexstrom is currently working with industry partners to validate its technology within established chip manufacturing processes.
