NextEra Energy reports strong third-quarter 2026 results
NextEra Energy, Inc. has reported its third-quarter 2026 financial results, posting a GAAP net income of $4.775 billion, or $2.28 per share. On an adjusted basis, earnings reached $2.592 billion, or $1.24 per share, representing a 9.7% year-over-year increase.
Key operational highlights include Florida Power & Light (FPL) growing its regulatory capital employed by approximately 9.2% through disciplined investments. NextEra Energy Resources added 3.7 gigawatts of renewables and storage to its backlog, which now totals approximately 36.7 gigawatts.
The company also noted that it continues to advance its pending combination with Dominion Energy following shareholder approval. Despite the strong financial performance, investment bank BTIG recently lowered its price target for NextEra Energy from $112 to $105, citing potential headwinds from interest rates and political uncertainty, even as long-term demand for electricity rises due to AI data centers and economic electrification.
