Ney Matogrosso and Xuxa Meneghel resolve public misunderstanding
Singer Ney Matogrosso and presenter Xuxa Meneghel have resolved a public misunderstanding following a controversy regarding ageism and stage costumes. Matogrosso took the initiative to contact Meneghel to clarify the situation and end the perceived conflict.
The tension originated in August during a television appearance by Meneghel on ‘Domingão com Huck’. While discussing criticisms of her stage outfits, Meneghel compared the public's reaction to her appearance as a 63-year-old woman to the reception of Matogrosso's performances. She argued that women face different scrutiny regarding age and clothing compared to men.
Matogrosso expressed discomfort with the comparison in previous interviews, noting that the argument felt as though she was shifting her personal grievances onto him. During their recent conversation, Meneghel reportedly apologized, admitting she ‘talks too much’ and acknowledging that she had overstepped. Matogrosso confirmed that there is no animosity between the two artists.
