Neymar involved in tension and new rule application during Santos victory

Neymar played a key role in Santos' 3-0 victory against Vasco da Gama in the Brazilian championship, assisting both goals. However, the match was marked by personal tension and the application of new league regulations.

Before kickoff, Vasco da Gama goalkeeper Thiago Mendes refused to shake hands with Neymar, continuing a rivalry dating back to their time in France. The tension persisted through the flag exchange and coin toss.

Additionally, Neymar became the first player to be affected by a new Brazilian Football Confederation rule designed to prevent time-wasting during medical interventions. After Santos goalkeeper Gabriel Brazao received medical attention, the team failed to designate a player to leave the pitch within the required timeframe. As the team captain, Neymar was automatically required to leave the field for 60 seconds. Neymar subsequently had to leave the pitch a second time after requesting medical assistance for himself.
