Neymar reveals retirement plans and aversion to watching football

In a recent interview on the YouTube program ‘Varanda Gourmet’, Neymar Jr. shared his vision for life after professional football. The 34-year-old Santos striker stated that he intends to take a full year of sabbatical once he retires, during which he plans to do “absolutely nothing” and live without professional obligations.

Neymar also expressed a surprising sentiment regarding the sport: while he loves playing football, he admits he does not enjoy watching matches on television. He noted that sitting on a sofa to watch games can be frustrating, recalling his time in Paris and Barcelona when teammates would spend entire weekends watching football, a routine he found difficult to endure.

Beyond his retirement thoughts, the athlete discussed his daily routine, including physical therapy and spending time with his children, mentioning his interest in watching films like ‘Shrek’ and ‘The Grinch’ with them. Currently, Neymar remains focused on his season with Santos as the club competes in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
