Neymar tops Brazilian league disciplinary record with surge in cards
Brazilian forward Neymar has accumulated a record number of cautions in the 2025‑2026 season. In just 18 matches across club and national duty he received nine yellow cards, a tally that exceeds his total for the entire previous season, which saw eight yellows in 28 games.
Official summaries from the CBF, the São Paulo Football Federation and CONMEBOL show that only five of Neymar’s cards were for fouls while the remaining twelve resulted from disciplinary breaches such as complaints against referees, confrontations with opponents, returning to the pitch without permission and climbing the perimeter fence during goal celebrations. He was sent off once, after receiving a second yellow against Botafogo in the 2025 Brasileiro, and will miss the upcoming match versus Athletico‑PR due to the automatic suspension.
Since rejoining Santos, Neymar has collected 17 cards in 44 appearances, averaging roughly one warning every two to three games.
