Nezahualcóyotl, Naucalpan, and Tlalnepantla lead in authority effectiveness perception

According to the National Survey of Urban Public Safety (ENSU) by INEGI for the second quarter of 2026, the municipalities of Nezahualcóyotl, Naucalpan, and Tlalnepantla lead the perception of authority effectiveness in the State of Mexico's Unified Command Eastern Zone. Nezahualcóyotl recorded a 42% effectiveness rating, followed by Naucalpan at 34.7% and Tlalnepantla at 33.8%.

Government officials attribute these results to the Unified Command strategy, part of the Comprehensive Plan for the Eastern Zone coordinated by Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez. Key initiatives include the 'Caminemos Seguras' program, which implements 'Senderos Mexiquenses' featuring improved lighting, surveillance cameras, and emergency buttons to enhance pedestrian safety.

Infrastructure improvements have also contributed to these perceptions, including the reconstruction of 108 kilometers of major roadways such as Periférico Norte, Periférico Oriente, and Vialidad Mexiquense. Additionally, all eight municipalities surveyed in the region reported improvements in the perception of security.
