Nezahualcóyotl residents report abandoned roadwork on San Lorenzo bridge

Residents of the Benito Juárez, La Esperanza, and Unidad Rey Neza neighborhoods have reported the abandonment of a road rehabilitation project involving the San Lorenzo bridge and the Circuito Universitario Nezahualcóyotl. The project, part of the Integral Oriente mobility plan, is a joint investment by the federal government, the State of Mexico, and local municipalities, with the Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes (SICT) in charge.

Although the project was scheduled to last approximately two months starting August 4, workers and machinery have reportedly been absent for over a week. In the circuit surrounding the Neza 86 stadium and the Universidad Tecnológica de Nezahualcóyotl, the old asphalt has been removed but not replaced, leaving loose stone material. Residents have threatened to create a provisional passage using sandbags to restore connectivity between Nezahualcóyotl and Chimalhuacán.
