NFCA announces 2027 Leadoff Classic schedule and new incentive program
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has announced the schedule for the 2027 NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic, which will take place from February 11–14 at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Florida. The tournament is expected to feature a record 49 games.
Auburn softball is scheduled to play six games, beginning February 11 against Nebraska, followed by matchups against Cal Baptist, NC State, Bethune-Cookman, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Texas Tech is also set to compete in its third consecutive year at the venue, with a six-game schedule including opponents such as Jacksonville State, Notre Dame, Liberty, Northwestern, Virginia Tech, and NC State.
A new feature for the 2027 edition is the ‘Elevate the Game Incentive’ program. Funded by a $100,000 donation from Tracy and John Sellers, the initiative allows participating programs to earn financial awards based on the NFCA’s core values and mission. The tournament champion will receive $50,000, with an additional $50,000 distributed through various award tracks for statistical leaders and program excellence.
