NFL declares Zxavian Harris eligible to sign with teams

The NFL has reversed its previous ruling regarding defensive tackle Zxavian Harris, declaring him eligible to sign with an NFL team or practice squad for the current season.

Initially, the league had ruled Harris ineligible for the 2026 season because it believed he had played college football after the start of NFL training camps. However, following an interview with Harris and independent verification of his activities, the NFL determined that Harris did not participate in any official organized practices or games with LSU.

Harris and tight end Dae’Quan Wright had previously attempted to return to college football to play for coach Lane Kiffin at LSU after going undrafted. While a Louisiana court had temporarily stayed an SEC rule barring professional players from returning to college, LSU ultimately left both players off its active roster for the season. While Harris has been cleared to sign, the eligibility status of Wright remains unchanged.
