NFL demands DHS remove video featuring Brian Dawkins

The National Football League (NFL) has formally requested that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) remove a social media video featuring Hall of Fame safety Brian Dawkins. The video, which used highlights of Dawkins’ career and his pregame routine, was posted by DHS to promote border enforcement messaging in response to reports of a migrant caravan approaching the southern U.S. border.

The NFL stated that the league holds the rights to official game footage and did not consent to its use. Brian Dawkins also confirmed he did not authorize the use of his name, image, or likeness (NIL) for the post.

DHS defended the content, stating the agency is “playing lockdown defense at the border” and using “every Weapon at our disposal” to ensure safety, a reference to Dawkins’ “Weapon X” nickname. Despite the NFL’s request, reports indicate the video remained online as of Wednesday afternoon.
