NFL fans targeted by seasonal scams

As the NFL season approaches, scammers are increasingly targeting football fans through various social engineering tactics. These schemes often rely on creating a false sense of urgency, such as claiming limited supplies of discounted tickets or offering guaranteed payouts on sports parlays.

Common fraudulent activities include fake ticket marketplaces that spoof legitimate platforms like Ticketmaster, SeatGeek, StubHub, and VividSeats. A major red flag for these scams is when sellers request payment via cryptocurrency, wire transfers, or gift cards, as these methods offer minimal consumer protection. Additionally, fraudulent fantasy football leagues are identified as a growing concern for fans during the season.
