NFL fines Cincinnati Bengals players for unsportsmanlike conduct

The NFL has issued significant fines to several Cincinnati Bengals players following their Week 2 victory over the Houston Texans. Wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins were fined a combined $89,556 for unsportsmanlike conduct. The league cited “obscene gestures” and “illegal celebrations and vulgar acts” regarding a celebration the players claim was inspired by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, though the NFL disagreed with their characterization.

In addition to the wide receivers, Bengals cornerback DJ Turner was fined $11,491 for a facemask violation. Both Chase and Higgins have the option to appeal their respective rulings.

Looking ahead to Week 3, the Bengals are scheduled to face the Pittsburgh Steelers. Analysts note that Cincinnati enters the matchup as a 3.5-point favorite, bolstered by a revamped defensive line that has shown strong performance in early-season play.
