NFL owners reject Aaron Rodgers' international week proposal

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has proposed a concept to schedule all NFL international games within a single week, supplemented by an additional bye week. Rodgers suggested this approach would create a unique experience and aid in the expansion of the game, noting that current scheduling across various global locations can cause issues with team bye weeks.

However, reports indicate that NFL executives and team owners have shown virtually no support for the idea. Sources described the proposal as a “nonsensical concept,” arguing that the league would essentially be competing against itself. Furthermore, sources familiar with the league’s collective bargaining process stated that the idea was never discussed during previous negotiations and will not be considered moving forward.

The NFL currently plays a growing number of international games, with nine scheduled for the current season in locations including London, Brazil, France, Germany, Spain, Ireland, and Australia.
