NFL proceeds with historic Paris game despite French civil unrest

The NFL has confirmed that its first-ever regular-season game in France will proceed as scheduled on October 25, 2026, at the Stade de France. The matchup features the New Orleans Saints and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The decision comes amid widespread civil unrest and violent protests across France. Demonstrations, driven by grievances over the rising cost of living and deteriorating conditions in public education, have resulted in nearly 2,000 arrests and instances of property damage, including fires at public buildings.

Despite the instability, the NFL stated that preparations continue without disruption to league sites. The league is working closely with local authorities and security partners to manage operational matters. The New Orleans Saints plan to travel to Paris immediately following their game against the New York Giants, while the Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to arrive in France closer to kickoff.
