NFL Referees Association challenges official suspensions
The NFL Referees Association (NFLRA) is challenging the league's decision to suspend two officials for unprofessional conduct. The union described the disciplinary actions as “excessive and inconsistent with past precedent.”
Line judge Jeff Seeman received a two-game suspension following a video recording of him using profanity toward Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride during a game against the New York Giants. Referee Adrian Hill was handed a one-game suspension after an angry reaction to being knocked down by Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II during a game against the Minnesota Vikings.
The NFLRA intends to meet with the league's officiating department to discuss disciplinary standards. Additionally, the union plans to collaborate with the NFL Players Association to address rising levels of confrontation between players and officials on the field.
