NFL roster cuts impact former Tennessee Volunteers standouts

Following the NFL's August 30 roster cut deadline, several former Tennessee Volunteers standouts were released from their respective 53-man rosters. Wide receiver Cedric Tillman was cut by the Cleveland Browns after recording 71 catches and five touchdowns over his three-year career with the team. Quarterback Hendon Hooker was released by the Tennessee Titans; however, the team subsequently signed him to their practice squad on August 31. Additionally, wide receiver Jalin Hyatt was released by the New York Giants.

In response to roster refinements, the Tennessee Titans have focused on defensive additions, making four waiver pickups on the defensive end, including cornerback Melvin Smith Jr. and safety Terrell Burgess. Analysts suggest the Titans could further strengthen their secondary by pursuing free agent cornerback Kenny Moore II, a veteran known for his tenure with the Indianapolis Colts.
