NFL Roster Updates: Steelers Elevate Johnson and Colts Face Downs Trade Rumors

The Pittsburgh Steelers have elevated wide receiver Brandon Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster for their Week 8 game against the Cleveland Browns. This marks the final time Johnson can be elevated this season. The move comes as the team remains without starting wide receivers Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson, who are on injured reserve, while backup Ben Skowronek is questionable with a calf injury. Additionally, the Steelers signed Brandon Smith to their 53-man roster.

In the Indianapolis Colts organization, wide receiver Josh Downs is the subject of intense trade speculation as he enters the final year of his contract. With the NFL trade deadline approaching, reports suggest Downs may be moved. Concerns have been raised regarding the risk of playing Downs in the upcoming game against the Jacksonville Jaguars if a trade is imminent, specifically regarding the potential for injury before a transaction occurs.
