NFL suspends 49ers owner Jed York for six games
The NFL has suspended San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York for six games and issued a $500,000 fine for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. The disciplinary action follows York’s arrest in Ohio earlier this year during a prostitution sting operation.
According to court records, York was arrested in East Palestine, Ohio, after allegedly responding to an undercover advertisement on a prostitution website. He pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools. York was sentenced to one day in jail, which was credited as time served, and paid a $1,150 fine to the court.
York has already missed the first three games of the season, which will count toward his suspension. He is eligible to return to team activities on October 20. In a statement, York apologized to his family, players, and fans, calling his actions an “inexcusable mistake” that does not reflect his values.
