The Detroit Lions and New Orleans Saints have announced their leadership groups for the 2026 NFL season.

The Lions named seven captains: Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Penei Sewell, Aidan Hutchinson, Jack Campbell, Alim McNeill, and Jack Fox. Goff enters his sixth year as a captain, while Campbell and McNeill are first-time selections. The team is also working toward contract extensions for tight end Sam LaPorta and safety Brian Branch, following successful deals for Jack Campbell and Jahmyr Gibbs.

The Saints selected nine captains, including quarterback Tyler Shough, who earns the honor in his first season as a starter. Other captains include Erik McCoy, David Edwards, Cameron Jordan, Chase Young, Chris Rumph II, Kaden Ellis, Justin Reid, and Zach Wood. Notably, veteran running back Alvin Kamara was not included on the list.

Ahead of their Week 1 matchup, Lions quarterback Jared Goff expressed optimism regarding the team’s grit and the upcoming challenge against the Saints' defense.
