Australian state-league football enters 2026 finals series

Various Australian state-league football competitions are entering their finals series for the 2026 season.

The VFL has confirmed its finals schedule, with eight teams contesting a four-week series. The Grand Final is set for September 20. Matches will be broadcast via ABC TV VIC, 7plus, and streamed live on AFL.com.au and the AFL Live App. The wildcard finals begin on August 22, featuring matchups such as Sydney Swans versus Frankston and Williamstown versus Carlton.

The VAFA Finals Series is also commencing, including seven women’s competitions and eight Men’s Thirds competitions. The VAFA will host a Finals Luncheon on September 4 featuring James Hird and Jimmy Bartel.

In the Northern Football Netball League (NFNL), the finals weekend includes senior women’s Grand Finals and Division 2 and 3 lead-up matches. The Division 1 Grand Final between St Mary’s 1 and Montmorency 1 is scheduled for August 23 at Preston City Oval.
