NFS-e undergoes new testing round in Belo Horizonte

A new round of testing for the National Electronic Service Invoice (NFS-e) is taking place in Belo Horizonte from October 5 to October 9. The validation process, held at the Serpro headquarters, involves the Receita Federal, various municipal representatives, the NFS-e Management Committee, and the IBS Management Committee.

The current testing phase focuses on four specific areas: service taker notes, tax withholdings, electronic powers of attorney, and the mandatory issuance of invoices by companies opted into the Simples Nacional regime. Following this stage, the features are expected to enter a restricted production environment for taxpayer testing before full implementation.

These technical developments are part of the broader preparation for Brazil's tax reform, specifically adapting fiscal documents to the new Goods and Services Tax (IBS) and the Contribution on Goods and Services (CBS). Additionally, companies under the Simples Nacional regime are required to issue service notes exclusively through the National Issuer starting in early 2026.
