Ng Chi-mak reports misconduct during Hengdian auditions

TVB actress and screenwriter Ng Chi-mak recently shared her experience of encountering inappropriate behavior while auditioning for film roles in Hengdian, China. After a successful interview in a hotel conference room, Ng received a late-night WeChat message from the director inviting her to a private hotel room to ‘discuss the script.’

Following her refusal, a woman claiming to be the ‘director’s sister’ called to persuade her to attend, insisting the environment was safe. Ng maintained her refusal, which reportedly resulted in the director verbally abusing her and blocking her contact information, causing her to lose the acting role.

Ng expressed that while such ‘unwritten rules’ are a difficult reality in the industry, staying firm on one's boundaries prevents true harm. She remains optimistic, noting that rejection is common for actors and stating she will focus on her screenwriting work while waiting for suitable opportunities.
