Ngô Thị Hồng Loan prosecuted for usury in Huế

Police in Huế City have officially prosecuted Ngô Thị Hồng Loan for illegal usury in civil transactions. The investigation began after a local resident reported being coerced into paying exorbitant interest rates.

Authorities determined that between July 2023 and January 2026, Loan operated a lending scheme targeting individuals in difficult financial circumstances. The interest rates applied were extremely high: monthly loans carried rates of 10% to 20% per month (equivalent to 120% to 240% per year), while daily loans reached rates equivalent to 240% to 360% per year.

Through these methods, Loan is alleged to have gained an illicit profit of over 90 million VND. The investigation is ongoing as police work to consolidate the case files and encourage other potential victims to come forward.
