Ángel García receives Self-Employed Person of the Year award upon retirement

Ángel García, a well-known local vendor in Vilagarcía known as ‘Ángel, el del carrito’, is retiring after 42 years of managing his business at the Praza de Galicia. The retirement marks the end of a 60-year family legacy that began in 1966 when his father started the business with mobile carts.

In recognition of his long career and deep integration into the community, UPTA Galicia has awarded García the ‘Self-Employed Person of the Year’ award. Eduardo Abad, president of UPTA Spain, noted that García represents those who make their work a way of life and become part of their city's history.

While the business is closing its current chapter, a successor has been found to take over the concession. The transition is currently awaiting formal approval from the local council. García plans to spend his retirement pursuing hobbies such as fishing, cycling, and music.
