Ángel Martín releases new fiction novel and discusses mental health

Spanish comedian and screenwriter Ángel Martín has released his first fiction novel, ‘El día que lo fuimos todo’. The story follows a character named Abel, exploring themes of memory, family, and the construction of identity through personal recollections.

This new work marks a shift from Martín’s previous publications, which were rooted in his personal experiences with mental health. His earlier titles, including ‘Por si las voces vuelven’ and ‘Detrás del ruido’, addressed his experience with a psychotic break and the subsequent challenges of managing anxiety and recovery. In these works, he utilized his personal testimony to discuss mental health without adopting a strictly clinical tone.

During recent discussions, Martín also addressed the myth of the ‘tortured artist,’ arguing that mental suffering does not enhance creativity and can actually hinder professional performance. He further reflected on the impact of social media and the decline of face-to-face conversation in modern society.
