Ángel Víctor Torres announces candidacy for Canary Islands presidency
Ángel Víctor Torres, the Spanish Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory and Secretary General of the PSOE in the Canary Islands, has officially announced his candidacy for the Presidency of the Canary Islands.
Torres, who served as the regional president between 2019 and 2023, stated that his announcement would follow immediately after an upcoming PSOE Executive meeting. He noted that his previous intention to announce the candidacy on August 31 was delayed due to his responsibilities in Ceuta.
His stated priorities for a potential new term include housing, wealth redistribution, regional financing, and the ‘Canarian agenda’. Regarding the political landscape, Torres emphasized the importance of maintaining a progressive coalition and expressed his commitment to working for the islands despite current national political challenges.
