Ángel Víctor Torres criticizes PP and Vox political alignment

Spanish Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Ángel Víctor Torres, has criticized the political alignment between the Partido Popular (PP) and Vox. Responding to statements by PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo regarding the feasibility of joint governance, Torres claimed there is no longer a distinction between the ‘ultra-right’ and the ‘far-right’.

Torres specifically cited instances where these parties govern together in autonomous communities, alleging they oppose the reception of migrant children from the Canary Islands, Ceuta, and Melilla, and resist the removal of Francoist vestiges in compliance with Democratic Memory legislation.

Additionally, Torres rejected proposals from the PP to modify the Immigration Law. While the opposition argues for policies focused on family reunification or returning minors to their countries of origin to alleviate pressure on Spanish healthcare, education, and housing, Torres maintained a firm stance against such legislative changes. He defended the current management by referencing the Italian model under Giorgia Meloni, questioning the effectiveness of alternative approaches.
