Spanish politicians adjust candidacies for November general elections

As Spain prepares for the general elections on November 29, several political figures and parties are adjusting their candidacies.

Minister Ángel Víctor Torres announced he will not run for the Congress of Deputies with the PSOE. Instead, he is prioritizing his candidacy to return to the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands in the 2027 regional elections. He stated, “My priority is to win the elections in the Canary Islands again,” and pledged to support the party's candidates in Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

In another development, Minister Óscar Puente confirmed he will lead the PSOE list for Valladolid rather than Alicante, where he previously held strong ties.

In Andalusia, the decision by Adelante Andalucía to run candidates in all eight provinces has sparked political tension. The move has drawn criticism from Por Andalucía, which argues that such fragmentation could prevent progressive options from gaining representation, potentially benefiting right-wing parties due to electoral laws.
