Ángela Vivanco testifies in Chile's Belarus-linked corruption probe

Former Supreme Court minister Ángela Vivanco appeared at the OS7 unit of Carabineros in Providencia to give her first statement in the investigation dubbed the “Belarusian scheme”. The interrogation, requested by her own defense, concerns alleged repeated fraud and money‑laundering linked to a Chilean‑Belarusian consortium. Vivanco, under total house arrest after four months of preventive detention, said she was calm, familiar with the case and prepared to answer the prosecutors’ questions. She noted the interview could last more than a day, depending on how the declaration proceeds.

The probe also anticipates the formalization of former deputy Gabriel Silber on 22 September, alongside other suspects, as the Fiscalía Regional Oriente continues its inquiry into the alleged corruption network.
