Ángelo Vásquez announces plan to form political party
Ángelo Vásquez, president of the Antigua Orden Dominicana (AOD), announced his intention to enter electoral politics by forming a new political party. The announcement was made during a march in Moca, Espaillat province, where supporters dressed in black marched through the streets.
Vásquez stated that while he has historically avoided partisan activity, the organization has concluded that it must seek political power to implement necessary changes in the country. He used slogans such as “Patria o muerte” and “Unidad para vencer” during the mobilization.
The AOD describes itself as a nationalist, conservative, and pro-life entity. Some researchers and sectors characterize the group as an ultra-nationalist or far-right organization with radical stances regarding Haitian immigration.
