Nghệ An accelerates flood prevention projects in Vinh City

The Nghệ An Provincial People's Committee has issued a directive to accelerate flood prevention and urban drainage projects in Vinh City. The provincial government has tasked the Department of Construction with completing seven urban flood prevention projects by October 2026.

Key priorities include repairing the Cầu Đen floodgate system and implementing local flood control measures at the Quán Bàu intersection. The Department of Construction is also responsible for dredging canals and drainage systems in urgent areas. For long-term solutions, the province requires an update to the Vinh urban master plan to account for extreme weather and climate change, focusing on increasing water absorption and connecting urban drainage with irrigation systems, rivers, and regulating lakes.
