Nghệ An flooding isolates 1,400 people after bridge destruction

Severe flooding in Yen Hoa Commune, Nghệ An Province, has isolated nearly 1,400 residents across three villages after the Trung Thang Bridge and the Vang Ong overflow were destroyed by floodwaters. The Trung Thang Bridge, a temporary structure built after a previous flood destroyed a permanent concrete bridge, was swept away on August 20.

Local military and police forces have established continuous boat transport services to move people, essential supplies, and vehicles across the river. To manage the swift currents, authorities use ropes connected to both banks to stabilize the boats. Emergency transport services have been operating from early morning until late at night, including urgent medical evacuations for sick residents during the night.
